Shuler leaves program

News broke this morning that starting defensive end Adam Shuler will be leaving the program and has intentions of transferring to another school. Shuler will be entering his junior redshirt junior season in 2018 after spending his first three years in Morgantown.

Shuler found himself getting a good number of game reps in his redshirt freshman season in 2016 and finished with a strong campaign to earn him the starting spot in 2017. In 23 career games Shuler registered 71 tackles 10 tackles for loss and 4 sacks.

The Mountaineers experienced a serious lack of depth on the defensive front in 2017 and will have another roster spot they need to fill before September rolls around. The defensive line along with the corner backs will be the biggest question marks heading into the 2018 season.

Expect senior Ezekiel Rose to takeover as a starter in which he could have a monster year. ESPN has already tabbed Rose as a breakout player to watch for.
