West Virginia’s coaching staff has scheduled a visit for Syracuse transfer Jesse Edwards, per source. Edwards will visit Morgantown starting Friday, April 14 until the end of the weekend.

Edwards entered the portal early on Tuesday morning with WVU making contact immediately. The 6-foot-11 big has also heard from Arkansas, BYU, Florida, Florida State, Gonzaga, Georgia, Kansas State, LSU, Memphis, Michigan, Missouri, NC State, Seton Hall and Vanderbilt, according to 24/7 High School Hoops.

Edwards averaged 14.5 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.7 blocks on 59 percent shooting from the field. Edwards was named to the All-ACC Third Team this past season. Edwards has started for the Orange the past two years. The native of the Netherlands enters the portal after long-time Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim retired. Edwards played seven minutes against West Virginia in the second round of the 2021 NCAA Tournament.

Edwards has one year of eligibility remaining.

Iowa State guard Caleb Grill will come into town once Edwards is leaving. A source told WVSN that Grill will visit from Sunday, April 16 to Tuesday, April 18. WVU G Jose Perez will serve as the player host for both Edwards and Grill over the next week.

Pitt’s John Hugley will visit later this month as well.

West Virginia currently has one spot open for the 2023-24 season but it appears as the staff is preparing for more room to be available.
