Watch: Pat McAfee Drives the Garrett Greene Hype Train

Pat McAfee called his West Virginia Mountaineers the most disappointing team in the country last season, but it appears he’s now excited for WVU get back out on the field in 2023, at least to watch Garrett Greene.
This past week on his show, McAfee busted out a rant about why he believes quarterback Garrett Greene is the right guy to lead West Virginia. Even though Greene has not yet officially been announced as the starter to open the season, McAfee brought up why Greene’s dual-threat ability and his personality could combine for excitement at Milan Puskar Stadium in the fall.

“Happy Valley is about to be GG valley! He’s a dog! He can run, he can throw, he’s unbelievable!,” McAfee said with excitement.
The former WVU kicker and NFL punter turned media mogul could not be contained while going on and on about Greene. “Garrett Greene is a guy, that when he plays football, everybody notices!”
Despite McAfee fueling some Greene hype, Neal Brown has made it clear he’s in no rush to name his starting quarterback and won’t do so until much closer to the new season kicking off.
Since he’s not ready to announce who will be under center in Week 1 in State College against Penn State, Brown has to enjoy hearing McAfee speak positively about his team.
