Ref to Geno Smith

Geno Smith is now 1-1 on the season, but a perfect 2-0 when it comes to creating viral clips.

In the midst of leading the Seahawks to a comeback win on Sunday, Smith got shutdown while trying to say something to a referee. Smith went over to a ref during a stoppage, but didn’t realize the ref was conveying the penalty for the TV audience.

“I’m talking to America here” is what Smith was told. The WVU legend then let the ref continue doing his thing. Smith was likely trying to plead his case to dispute the call since it was for intentional grounding on the Seattle quarterback.

The Seahawks won the game in overtime 37-31 despite trailing most of the game on the road. Seattle had to outscore Detroit 14-10 in the fourth quarter to get the game into overtime and then Smith’s touchdown pass to Tyler Lockett won the game in overtime.

Smith completed 32 out of 41 passes overall on the day for 328 yards. He thew two touchdown passes, including the game winner in overtime, and also ran for 20 yards. Seattle now moves to 1-1 on the season, avoiding starting the season in an 0-2 hole.

The WVU legend rebounded strong to follow a game that saw his only highlight come when he was yelling scared of Aaron Donald running full force in his direction.
