MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – With Rich Rodriguez back as WVU’s head coach and his former assistant Tony Gibson now at Marshall, fans of both programs are wondering if there’s now going to be an increased initiative to play the “Friends of Coal Bowl” in West Virginia. And while some fans may want that to happen, that’s not something on the mind of Rodriguez right now.

When asked Rodriguez was asked his thoughts about Gibson being hired by the Thundering Herd on the Pat McAfee Show, he offered a response that sparked a big cheer from the crowd at the WVU Coliseum.

“If you think Iโ€™ve spent one second thinking about Marshall, youโ€™re wrong,” said Rodriguez with a big smile on his face.

West Virginia and Marshall haven’t played since the 2012 season, a 69-34 victory for the Mountaineers.

WVU owns a perfect 12-0 record all-time in the series.
