WVU Football Garrett Greene and Preston Fox against Cincinnati

It was announced on Tuesday that West Virginia football will travel to Cincinnati to take on the Bearcats on Saturday, Nov. 9. This marks the first time since 2011 that the Mountaineers will play at Nippert Stadium.

The two old Big East schools faced each other for the first time in over a decade this past season, with West Virginia running all over UC 42-21.

While this coming season’s game was known to be on the schedule, Tuesday’s news revealed the official date of the matchup.

Here’s West Virginia’s full football schedule for 2024.

Aug. 31 – Penn State

Sept. 7 – Albany

Sept. 14 – @ Pitt

Sept. 21 – Kansas

Oct. 5 – @ Oklahoma State

Oct. 12 – Iowa State

Oct. 19 – Kansas State

Oct. 26 – @ Arizona

Nov. 9 – @ Cincinnati

Nov. 16 – Baylor

Nov. 23 – UCF

Nov. 30 – @ Texas Tech

During the first four years of this new Big 12, all teams will play one another at least once home and away. Some matchups will occur over three seasons while others take place in all four. Matchups in 2024 that were also played in 2023 will not repeat at the same site.

The Conference looked to maintain the current 5/4, 4/5 home/away rotation for all 16 members to minimize non-conference scheduling disruptions. Other important factors were balancing annual travel by distance and time zones as well as maintaining connectivity to rivalries without compromising a balanced rotation for all teams.

The Big 12 will compete as a 16-team conference for the first time in 2024. Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah will become members in the summer of 2024 joining Baylor, BYU, UCF, Cincinnati, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas Tech and West Virginia.
