West Virginia First Power Five Offer for 2023 RB Christian Davis

Prior to leaving for his high school track meet this afternoon, running back Christian Davis received some very big news.

The 2023 running back from Miamisburg, Ohio received his first Power Five offer from Chad Scott and the West Virginia Mountaineers. Davis’ other D-1 offer came from the in-state Cincinnati Bearcats.

As he prepared for today’s meet, where he’ll compete in the 100- and 200-meter dash, West Virginia Sports Now got some quick thoughts from Davis about his big news.

”Coach Scott called me and said that he really liked my film and the things I can do on the field and that I’m able to both run and catch the ball out of the backfield,” said Davis. “After that, he said that he wanted to offer me a full scholarship to West Virginia.

“Getting this offer was a surreal feeling. To have a school like that wanting to take a chance on you with so many other high school kids that they can offer. For Coach to take the time out of his day to just call me and then to tell me that he wants me to play for his school it’s a great feeling and something that I enjoyed.”

Now that Davis has this offer, he now plans on further developing his relationship with the coaching staff and learning about the Mountaineer football program.

”I’m not very cultured yet about the West Virginia team but Coach Scott did tell me that they’re a very competitive program and they love to win and those are great things to hear. I love to do those things too, compete and win,” said Davis.

“My strengths are that I’m a true four-down back. I think that I can create a mismatch by being able to run straight up the middle, running quick game screens, blocking or anything that an offense would need out of me, I can provide that for them.”

In 9 games last season, Davis rushed 148 times for 594 yards for 5 touchdowns and also caught 29 passes for 224 yards and 1 touchdown.
