West Virginia To Play Dayton in ‘Secret Scrimmage’

Published

on

For preparation for the 2021-22 season, the West Virginia men’s basketball team will be scrimmaging against the Dayton Flyers in a ‘secret scrimmage.’

This was first reported by college basketball analyst Jeff Goodman.

The scrimmage will be on Oct. 23, in Columbus, Ohio. The practice between the two teams will be a closed-door event.

Last season, Dayton finished with a 14-10 record, in the middle of the pack in the Atlantic 10. Dayton had major wins over Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Saint Louis.

The Flyers will be entering their fifth season with former Alabama coach Anthony Grant. Grant help coach the best Dayton team in program history in the 2019-20 season, under players Obi Toppin and Jalen Crutcher. UD finished 29-2, with a projected No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament before COVID-19 ruining their cinderella season.

The results of this closed-scrimmage may never come out but WVU will be competing with a respectable program before the season starts.
