MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – The West Virginia men’s basketball team will open up the WVU Coliseum to welcome the Akron Zips for an exhibition game, on Friday night.

All of the proceeds of the event will go towards the Norma Mae Huggins Cancer Research Endowment Fund.

The Mountaineers and Zips will tip-off at 7 p.m., on ESPN+. Radio coverage will be presented by Mountaineer Sports Network on 100.9 FM.

WVU HC Bob Huggins will welcome the school he used to coach at. Huggins coached at Akron from 1984-89, taking the Zips to the NCAA Tournament.

Last season, the Zips went 15-8, finishing second in the MAC East. The Zips had a big win over Ohio, who ended up advancing in the NCAA Tournament.

“I think Akron is going to be really good for us,” Huggins said.

West Virginia will look forward to welcoming the fans back for a charity exhibition.
