The WVU basketball program announced the signing of Aliou Dioum to a grant-in-aid for the 2026-27 season on Thursday morning.

Dioum is a 6-foot-10 forward/center from Dakar, Senegal, and currently attends Bella Vista Prep in Scottsdale, Arizona. His official signing comes after committing in September.

“We are excited to have Aliou joining our program,” said WVU head coach Ross Hodge in a statement. “He has a high motor and passion for the game. Aliou has tremendous versatility and has a chance to be an elite defender. He continues to improve and has great upside as his best basketball is ahead of him. Aliou has a passion for his teammates and other people that aligns with what we want here at WVU.”

Last year, Dioum averaged 4.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game. He played AAU basketball for Arizona Unity.

Dioum is a 4-star recruit by ESPN and a 3-star recruit by 247 Sports and Rivals. He is listed as a Top 15 center and a Top 100 overall recruit in the 2026 class.

Dioum made an official visit to WVU on Aug. 30.

According to the Rivals Top 150 Player Rankings, Dioum is the No. 80 recruit in the 2026 class.

Dioum included WVU in his top six schools in August, joining Wake Forest, Illinois, Mississippi State, UNLV and Syracuse.
