WVU wrestling’s fifth-year senior Peyton Hall indeed saved his best performance for last.

Hall placed third in the 165-pound bracket at the 2025 NCAA Championships, the final time he will wrestle in a Mountaineers singlet.

This was Hall’s third All-American honor after previously finishing seventh and eighth. He became the third West Virginia wrestler to reach All-American three times.

Hall, the No. 2 seed, faced off against No. 4 Terrell Barraclough of Utah Valley in the consolation semifinals. Barraclough gave Hall his first of two losses on the season during a dual meet on Feb. 6.

Barraclough went up 1-0 on an escape in the second period before Hall secured a takedown to move in front, 3-1.

Barraclough answered with a takedown to go ahead 5-4 in the third period. With just four seconds remaining in the match, Hall recorded another takedown to defeat Barraclough 7-5.

Hall then defeated Nebraska’s No. 12 seed Christopher Minto in the consolation finals to earn bronze.

After trailing 3-0 early, Hall secured a reversal to move within 3-2 with 1:48 left in the first period. Pinto escaped, but Hall immediately recorded another takedown to lead 5-4 after one.

Hall pulled away in the second with another escape and takedown to lead 9-4, and eventually cruised to a 13-5 major decision win.

Hall closed his WVU career as the program’s all-time wins leader, five-time NCAA qualifier, three-time All-American and 2025 Big 12 champion.

He finished with 17 career NCAA Tournament victories.
