WVU DB Malachi Ruffin Looks to Continue Journey from Walk-On to NFL
Can Malachi Ruffin go from walk-on to NFL player?
Now that the season is officially over and the year has moved to 2024, it’s time for college players to think about their future after WVU. Ruffin did just that and decided to declare for the NFL Draft.
The defensive back announced his intentions on Wednesday afternoon by posting a message on X (Twitter). He brought up the roller coaster of emotions he endured throughout his six years as a Mountaineer.

After initially walking on, Ruffin eventually earned a scholarship in 2021. Throughout his entire college career, Ruffin recorded 77 total tackles, deflected nine passes and and made three interceptions. His final season was his best. Ruffin totaled 37 tackles, five pass deflections and picked off a pass.

Ruffin will now hope that his journey will lead to accomplishing his dream of playing in the NFL.
