WVU Football Gains Commitment of 2025 3-Star DB Over Another Big 12 School

The WVU football staff locked in another commitment from a recruit on the heels of an official visit. Sammy Etienne, a Florida based defensive back, announced his commitment on X (Twitter) on Monday.
Etienne (6-foot-1, 180-pounds) picked the Mountaineers over Big 12 foe Kansas State, a school he also recently visited. In addition to the two Big 12 programs, Etinne also had offers from schools like Colorado, Connecticut, USF and several others.

Etinne, who currently attends Auburndale High School in Auburndale, Fla. as a 2025 prospect, wasn’t offered by WVU until May of this year, making his successful recruitment a quick process. He carries a three-star rating from 247 Sports.
West Virginia sees Etinne as a cornerback due to his athleticism.
Etienne recorded 59 tackles and an interception during the 2023 season while also experiencing time on offense as a wide receiver.
Etienne is now the fourth defensive back to commit to West Virginia, joining Dutch Fork, Elgin Sessions, ย Terrance โDeuceโ Edwards and West Virginia nativeย Zah Jackson.
