Even with the 2023 season in full swing, the WVU football program is always looking to the future. And that was made evident on Thursday when a four-star prospect announced he just received an offer from West Virginia.

CJ May (6-foot-4, 225 pounds) is regarded as one of the top Edge rushers in the nation. May, a class of 2025 product, currently attends Highland Home High School, in Highland Home, Alabama.

Prior to gaining the WVU offer, May recently took a trip to Tennessee and earned an offer from Georgia Tech. May is universally ranked as one of the 20 best Alabama players in his class by every major national recruiting outlet.

Despite being inside the 20, and even top 15 for the most part, May is listed as only a three-star by ESPN, On3 and Rivals. It’s 247 Sports that has already awarded May a four-star classification.

There’s plenty of time left in May’s recruitment journey, but West Virginia will have to really put in work to land this highly coveted prospect. Most have May as leaning towards Auburn, a school in his home state that he has visited on multiple occasions. Other prominent programs like Arkansas, Georgia, Clemson, Notre Dame and Penn State have already expressed interest in May.
