At a press conference announcing Robert Morris’s move to the Horizon League this afternoon, RMU athletic director Chris King announced that the Colonials have scheduled to play West Virginia in football in 2025.

The 2025 match-up will be the first game between the Colonials and Mountaineers. RMU finished 7-5 in 2019, 6-1 in Northeast conference play. The Robert Morris football team will be joining the Big South Conference in 2021 after a year of independence, where they will be when playing WVU in 2025.

RMU is the second non-conference opponent set on WVU’s schedule for 2025. The other non-conference game will be Pitt at Milan Puskar Stadium as a part of the renewed Backyard Brawl.

With its season-opening victory over James Madison this season, West Virginia continued its streak of never losing to an FCS opponent. The Mountaineers are 20-0 all-time against FCS opponents. Before taking on RMU in 2025, West Virginia will also play Eastern Kentucky in 2020, Long Island in 2021, Towson in 2022, Duquesne in 2023 and Albany in 2024.
