WVU long snapper Austin Brinkman is receiving national attention heading into the 2023 season. Brinkman has been named to the Patrick Mannelly Award Watch List.

The official WVU football account tweeted a graphic to celebrate Brinkman’s inclusion on Monday afternoon. Brinkman, a native of Bel Air, Maryland, will be West Virginia’s starting long snapper for the third straight year.

After taking a redshirt year during the shortened season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Brinkman has been snapping balls for the Mountaineers for field goals, extra points and punts. In high school at The John Carroll School, Brinkman played quarterback and defensive back in addition to being his team’s long snapper.
