WVU Wrestling Adds Several Recruits to Class of 2025

Over the past day, the WVU Wrestling team secured several recruits for the Class of 2025, with Leo Contino, Cole Evans, Casen Roark and Gunner Andrick set to join the Mountaineers next season.

Roark leads the group of signees, boasting a resume as a three-time state champion in Tennessee and a three-time National Prep All-American. He was a runner-up at the National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) Junior Nationals and a placer at the Powerade Tournament.

A standout from Father Ryan High School, Roark is ranked No. 20 at 132 pounds by FloWrestling and No. 25 by MatScouts, with a No. 97 spot on FloWrestling’s Big Board.

Contino, hailing from Clovis, California, is a three-time state place finisher at Buchanan High School. He has twice placed at the Super 32 and is a former NHSCA Junior Nationals runner-up.

Contino is currently ranked No. 11 nationally by FloWrestling and No. 12 by MatScouts at 157 pounds. His rankings include No. 93 on MatScouts’ Big Board and No. 80 on the FloBig Board.

Cole Evans, out of Perrysburg High School in Ohio, is a two-time state champion at 150 pounds and the 2024 Grappler Fall Classic Champion.

He holds the No. 24 position in his weight class according to MatScouts and is ranked No. 179 on the MatScouts Big Board.

Andrick’s addition keeps the three-time West Virginia state wrestling champion in his home state. He was named the 2024 Grappler Fall Classic champion and No. 14 at 138 according to FloWrestling.
