WVU Football top recruit target Wesley Winn

The WVU football staff knows their best chance to land top recruits is to build a strong relationship with the player as early as possible. In keeping up with that plan, West Virginia extended an offer to an elite level athlete in the 2027 class.

Wesley Winn (5-foot-9, 155 pounds) posted about gaining an offer from WVU on X (Twitter) on Monday. The Mountaineers became the 18th Division I program to send an official offer to the Archbishop Riordan High School wide receiver from San Francisco, Calif.

It’s too soon for a 2027 prospect to earn star ratings from national recruiting outlets, but Winn, a Max Preps All-American, already has offers on the table from programs ranging from Charlotte, Grambling State, Hawaii and Marshall to major conference schools from all over the country. Winn’s major offers include Arizona, Arkansas, Auburn, BYU, Colorado, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Louisville, Maryland, Miami (FL), Michigan, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Penn State, Purdue, Tennessee, Texas A&M, UCF, Washington and many several others. He also visited Texas and Stanford last year.

Winn’s most recent big offer before WVU was from Penn State on April 24. Marshall sent him an offer the day before. In terms of which school may have an early leg up on recruiting Winn, he has his offer from Georgia from May of 2023 pinned on his X (Twitter) profile.

While West Virginia doesn’t usually put too much energy into recruiting California players, 2026 four-star wide receiver Allen Blaylock did reveal an offer from WVU on Sunday night.
