WVU Football Attempting to Flip 2026 4-Star ATH Committed to ACC School
Demetres Samuel Jr. became the latest Florida athlete to receive an offer from the WVU football staff. Samuel posted about his West Virginia offer on Friday afternoon.
The Mountaineers, much like several other programs, are still pursuing Samuel despite the fact he committed to Syracuse on March 30. Samuel, who is listed at 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds, is 2026 prospect out of Heritage High School in Palm Bay, Fla.

Ranked as a four-star recruit by several national recruiting outlets, Samuel is viewed as one of the top athletes in the state of Florida. ESPN and On3 Sports even considered Samuel a top 100 player nationally.
While he’s mostly classified as a versatile athlete, 247 Sports does label him a safety.
Before committing to Syracuse, Samuel had offers from Appalachian State, Florida, FAU, Illinois, Iowa, Liberty, Marshall, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nebraska, USF and Western Kentucky. But since his commitment, Samuel has added offers from Auburn, Baylor, Kentucky, Louisville and Michigan State. Samuel has also been in contact and visited LSU.
