According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, West Virginia Director of Athletics Wren Baker has signed a two-year extension that lasts through December of 2030. Baker was hired as WVU’s AD in 2022 with his original contract lasting until 2028.

Since taking over the position for Shane Lyons, Baker has played a part in men’s and women’s basketball hires, as well as volleyball. Baker has also helped with the transition of the baseball program as manager Randy Mazey will retire at the conclusion of the season. In March, Baker extended football head coach Neal Brown for another year after a nine-win season that included a Duke’s Mayo Bowl win over North Carolina.

Before WVU, Baker served at North Texas’ athletic director, helping the Green Wave transition into the American Athletic Conference.
