2026 3-Star RB Lawrence Autry Confirms Flip to WVU Football
WVU Football flipped another recruit on the eve of Early National Signing Day. Running back Lawrence Autry confirmed he’s going to be a Mountaineer on Tuesday.
Initially committed to Tulane, Autry will instead join West Virginia in the Big 12 due to Jon Sumrall decided to leave the Green Wave for Florida. Autry committed to Tulane in June. WVU just offered him on Dec. 1 on the heels of his visit.
Even though Rich Rodriguez and his staff already have several running backs as part of their 2026 class, they couldn’t pass up on adding Autry to the mix as well.
The 5-foot-11, 210-pound back put up some eye-popping numbers in 2025. He ran for 1,296 yards and scored 26 touchdowns on 179 carries while averaging 7.2 yards per touch.
In addition to WVU and Tulane, Autry had offers from Arkansas State, Austin Peay, Georgia State, Jacksonville State, Middle Tennessee, Sacramento State, South Alabama, Southern Miss and some others.
