WVU basketball hosted 6-foot-7 in-state wing prospect Max Olejasz on a visit last month. Olejasz, who attends Wheeling Central Catholic High School, broke down his recruitment and visit to Morgantown in a conversation with WV Sports Now.

Olejasz identifies as a “versatile” player, playing the post in high school while going out wide and playing the wing in AAU. He was named First Team All-Conference, First Team All-Area, WVSSAC All Tournament and Second Team All State last season as a junior.

As for his visit, Olejasz attended WVU’s 86-51 win over Mississippi Valley State on Dec. 22, 2025, and visited the entire day. On top of his visit to morgantown, he said he talks to assistant coach Johnny Estelle on a regular basis and has spoken with head coach Ross Hodge “numerous times.”

Being an in-state player, Olejasz said he is familiar with the program’s history.

“I have grown up watching WVU and going to games so I would say I have a vast knowledge of them,” Olejasz told WV Sports Now.

As for where WVU stands in his recruitment, Olejasz added the Mountaineers are “definitely pretty up there.”

So far, WVU has locked in three players for its 2026 recruiting class: five-star guard Miles Sadler, four-star forward Aliou Dioum and three-star guard Kingston Whitty.
