WVU Football Recruiting
2027 WR Sets Date to Pick Between WVU Football, Other P4 Schools
Soon after the WVU football staff finishes signing over 30 players to their 2026 class, they will learn if they landed one for 2027 a year in advance.
Virginia wide receiver prospect DeMarcus Brown revealed that he will go public with his commitment on Dec. 4, the day after the December National Signing Day for the 2026 class.
The Mountaineers appear to be up against Oklahoma, South Carolina State, Vanderbilt and Virginia in Brownโs top four, per Rivals.
Brown announced his WVU offer on June 20, which was his 12th from a Division I school at the time. Brown thanked WVU wide receivers coach Ryan Garrett in his post about the offer on social media. Brownโs offer came after his recent visit and tour of the WVU facility.
A product of North Cross High School in Roanoke, Va., Brown is listed as about 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds.
While being recruited as a wide receiver, Brown, like most high school athletes, also has experience on the defensive side of the ball.
On offense, Brown made 46 receptions for 1,151 yards and scored 16 touchdowns in 2014. He also ran for 203 yards on 18 touches on the ground.
On defense, Brown made 29 solo tackles and assisted on 27 more. He picked off eight passes, forced four fumbles and even recovered one.
As for Brownโs other offers, California, Louisville, South Carolina, Syracuse, Vanderbilt and his home state programs Virginia and Virginia Tech are all recruiting him. In addition from his Power Four offers, Brown has opportunities on the table from East Carolina, Howard, Liberty and Toledo as well.
