Kansas State’s Blake Seiler agrees to become West Virginia linebackers coach
First reported by Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports, West Virginia is set to hire Kansas State defensive assistant Blake Seiler as a linebackers coach. Seiler was the Wildcats defensive play caller last year for a defense that finished 3rd among Big 12 defenses.
The 34-year-old coach spent 10 seasons in Manhattan with seven of those as a full-time assistant coach.
He was a major part in the development of defensive studs Jordan Willis and Reggie Walker, who both went on to earn Big 12 honors during their career. The Wildcats defense also finished 11th nationally in rush defense and 25th in scoring defense in 2016.
Seiler has a pretty strong connection with West Virginia defensive coordinator Vic Koenning, who was the defensive coordinator at Kansas State in 2009. Below is Seiler’s coaching experience while at K-State.
2009-10: Quality Control Coach
2011-12: Defensive Graduate Assistant
2013-16: Defensive Ends Coach
2017: Asst. Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers Coach
2018: Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers Coach
