In college football, West Virginia is among the top 12 teams with the most current consecutive wins in games where the squad is favored by at least 10 points.
The Mountaineers lead the Big 12 conference and rank fourth overall with 34 of these victories, only trailing Cincinnati (41), Kentucky (40) and Notre Dame (36).

**Update (6:30 p.m.)-
The Mountaineer Athletic Club (MAC), in conjunction with the Pitt Panther Club, has announced the Backyard Brawl Giving Challenge ahead of the teams’ 105th matchup on Sept. 1.
To commemorate the renewal of the historic rivalry, the Giving Challenge provides fans of each team to compete against each other for the week leading up to the game. The school with the most participating donors will be declared the winner of the challenge.
The contest began at noon Wednesday and will end at 12 p.m. Sept. 1. Fans can donate at give.classy.org/backyardbrawl.

**Update (2:00 p.m.)-
The West Virginia men’s soccer team is set to open its season on Thursday night.
The No. 6 ranked Mountaineers will take on Robert Morris at 7 p.m. at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. It is Dollar Night at the stadium, with tickets and concessions available for $1 each.
Fans also are encouraged to donate school supplies for a chance to win a team-signed jersey.
