WVSN’s Big 12 Preview Series will give a snapshot of all nine of WVU football’s Big 12 opponents throughout this week. The schedule for this week is:

Monday: Baylor and Iowa State
Tuesday: Kansas and Kansas State
Wednesday: Oklahoma and Oklahoma State
Thursday: TCU and  Texas
Friday: Texas Tech

While other teams in the Big 12 graduated talent and experience following the 2019 season, Oklahoma State is bringing almost everybody back in 2020.

Other than two starters on the offensive line and one defensive back, basically every Cowboy that played a role on offense or defense in 2019 will be back for 2020. That much production returning has lead to high expectations on Ok State for this season.

While a lot of talk has been devoted to 2,000-yard rusher Chuba Hubbard and the Oklahoma State offense, head coach Mike Gundy said during Big 12 Football Media Day that it is his defense that excites him the most.

“If they come together as a group, which so far they’ve proven they want to…they will have a chance with the depth and the maturity they have to be the best team that we’ve had on that side of the ball since I’ve been here for 16 years,” Gundy said.

The Cowboys return 10 of 11 defensive starters and 12 of their top 13 tacklers from last season. Leading the defense are safety Kolby Harvell-Peel and linebacker Amen Ogbangbemiga.

On offense, the Cowboys return the aforementioned Hubbard as well as 2019 starting quarterback Spencer Sanders and top wide receiver Tylan Wallace.
