Just a day ago, the West Virginia baseball season came to an end in heartbreaking fashion losing on a grand slam to Texas A&M.

Today, the feeling is much different.

The 2019 MLB First-Year Player Draft just kicked off and the Mountaineers ace pitcher Alek Manoah just heard his name called as he was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays with the 11th overall pick.

Manoah finished his junior campaign with a 9-4 record and an ERA of 2.08 while setting a school record for strikeouts in a single season (144). Manoah was named Big 12 Pitcher of the Year as he led the league in wins, ERA and strikeouts. He was also named a first team All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and was also a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award.

His mark on West Virginia baseball has certainly been made and will be one fans will never forget.
