Current and Former WVU Basketball Players React to Larry Harrison Firing

Following WVU associate head coach Larry Harrison’s abrupt dismissal from the men’s basketball team on Thursday, many current and former players under Harrison took their thoughts to social media.

Joe Toussaint: “Will always be my coach. Stay strong coach, love always.”

Josiah Davis: “Forever thankful for what you’ve done for me and my game coach. Love you coach.”

Wow never did I ever think I’ll see the day that Coach Harrison leaves wvu without Huggs. It just doesn’t make sense. Like at all smh something ain’t right. 😒

Larry Harrison has done so much for me and my basketball career. I have seen first hand how his work ethic, honesty, & driven mindset has affected mountaineer basketball in a positive way. It is a true shame & disappointment that he will no longer be on staff at WVU.

I can go on and on about how coach Larry Harrison saved my life but I won’t ill just say coach gave me purpose coach gave me life long lessons that had nothing to do with basketball smh honestly hurt about it I just thought the man would retire a coach at wvu this is unacceptable

Harrison spent the last 13 seasons as the associate head coach at West Virginia, 24th with Bob Huggins. Harrison was a part of Huggins’ coaching staff at Cincinnati as well.

WVU men’s basketball will conduct an immediate search for Harrison’s replacement.

West Virginia currently sits at a 10-6 (0-4 Big 12) record. WVU will travel to Norman, Ok. and take on Oklahoma on Saturday at noon as they look to win their first conference game.
