West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins opened up his Friday morning press conference with a statement about the dismissal of associate head coach Larry Harrison. Huggins asked to not take any further questions on the matter.

“A decision has been changed within our basketball staff was a difficult one. Larry and I have worked together for 24 years and shared many great moments. Decision was made in best interest of Mountaineer basketball,” Huggins said. “I’m not going to take any further questions on the matter and will now move along to your questions about the upcoming Oklahoma game.”

Huggins did later answer a question about the staff’s opening saying that they will conduct a search to find the best possible fit for the program.

“I think we’re blessed that Ronnie [Everhart] has been through it. We have a guy with experience,” Huggins said. “We also have other guys that are good basketball guys. Hopefully we can put it all together.”

WVU’s basketball program parted ways with Harrison on Thursday afternoon. Harrison spent 16 seasons coaching at West Virginia and spent another eight with Huggins at Cincinnati from 1989-97.
