Finley Bizjack Looks to ‘Elevate’ His Game for WVU Basketball

WVU basketball senior guard Finley Bizjack knows nothing else besides being an important piece of every team he’s ever been part of. He expects that to continue as he caps off his college career as a Mountaineer.

When asked to describe his game, he gave a simple answer: Bizjack is a scorer.

“I feel like easily I’m just, like, a scorer. That’s what I’ve done for most of my college career, and what I’ve prided myself on is just being the best scorer that I can possibly be,” Bizjack said in a press conference on Thursday, July 30.

Bizjack gave a fair assessment of his game, as he averaged 17.1 points per game at Butler last year with 11 games of 20 or more points. Now, he looks to develop other areas of his game with head coach Ross Hodge’s help on the defensive end.

“He told me if I wanted to play at the next level, I had to improve other parts of my game, and he told me that he can make good scorers really good defenders, and so in order to be the best possible version of myself, I felt like it was a no-brainer to come here,” Bizjack said.

Bizjack is far from the only newcomer – the only returning player that logged minutes last year is sophomore guard Amir Jenkins. Despite only being in Morgantown for a short period of time, he’s confident he can make an impact at WVU. He’s even called the 2026-27 Mountaineers the “most talented” team he’s been on.

“Like I’ve said before, like, this is the most talented team I’ve played on, and so trying to, like, manage all the talent and figure out where guys fit into roles and stuff has been different,” Bizjack said. “But I feel like it’s been very good and very positive for us.”

Bizjack’s claim about this year’s WVU team being the best he’s played on comes from the team’s depth, size and skill.

“I feel like there’s nothing that we’re really lacking. You look at our big men, they’re ginormous, they’re long, they’re lengthy, they’re skilled. Our wings super skilled, super athletic, can shoot the ball, can drive, can defend. Our guards, super talented can do it all basically. And so it’s just hard to look at a weak spot of our roster,”
