First round HS Football Playoff Schedule Set; Many Games Forced to Sunday

The schedule is set for this week’s opening round of the West Virginia high school football postseason, but this season there is (of course) a twist on the usual protocals.

Schools from counties deemed orange or red on Saturday’s state department of education COVID metrics map must play their games next Sunday after a new map is released. If those counties remain red or orange, that team will forfiet its game.

In Class AAA, that means Wheeling Park, John Marshall, Parkersburg, Ripley and Hurricane — no matter their seed or standing as a home or away team — are scheduled to play their game Sunday. In Class AA the list is Poca, Frankfort and Keyser while in Class A its Wheeling Central, Tug Valley, Buffalo and Williamstown.

First-round matchups with scheduled dates and kickoff times are listed below along with brackets for each class:
