While WVU is reeling after one of the worst weeks the program has endured in awhile, the in-state counterpart Marshall is experiencing one of their best.

The Herd’s historic upset win over Notre Dame isn’t the only thing Marshall fans can celebrate. Marshall running back Khalan Laborn has been named the Doak Walker National Running Back of the Week.

He ran for 163 yards and a touchdown in South Bend. This was his second consecutive game with 100 or more yards, averaging 5.3 yards on 31 carries. His highlight was his 42-yard run as part of a 94-yard scoring drive in the fourth quarter that set up the Herd to retake the lead for good.

The Florida State transfer has started both games this season while filling in for the absence of Rasheen Ali, who was named to the preseason candidates list for the 2022 Doak Walker Award.
