Many thought Neal Brown and Shane Lyons were connected, and if one was fired, the other would be too. However, Brown stayed on as head coach despite Lyons removal as athletic director.

So with Wren Baker now running the WVU athletic program, it’s now essential for Brown to build a relationship with his new boss. On a show on Thursday, Mike Asti asked Brown about how that relationship has developed in the short time Baker has been at West Virginia.

Brown expressed liking Baker the man and the fact they can relate to each other since they are around the same age. He also touched on how Baker has handled the immense amount of adversity he’s been dealt with class.

Brown then showered Baker with compliments. “I think he’s innovative in his thinking. I think that he’s really humble as far as he listens to people. He understands when it’s not necessarily his strength. He’s done a great job of getting around the people of West Virginia and relating. He’s done a great job as far as networking with key influencers, whether it’s board of trustees, whether it’s people within the university, donors. He’s had a big presence here,” Brown said about Baker.
