Nick Taylor Follows Corners Coach to Morgantown | WVU Football All 105
All 105 is a West Virginia Sports Now series profiling each member of the 2025 WVU Football Roster.
Nick Taylor transferred to the WVU football program after spending his true freshman season with another set of Mountaineers at Appalachian State. A 6-foot-1, 189 pound cornerback, Taylor played sparingly but still performed well enough to justify burning a year of eligibility, racking up ten tackles and a pass breakup in 2024.
A two-time all-region performer in Georgia, always a recruiting hotbed, Taylor joins a secondary that was among the worst in the nation last season. As such, heโll have plenty of opportunities to earn playing time in an unproven and retooled position groupโฆ and added familiarity with the Mountaineers system, as he played under new cornerbacks coach Rod West at Appalachian State.
19 โข Nick Taylor, sophomore cornerback
Last year: Taylor took limited snaps in seven games as a true freshman at Appalachian State.
Stats: 10 tackles and one pass breakup.
Camp outlook: Most of the Mountaineersโ new-look secondary transferred in from lower levels of the sport like the FCS or junior college. As a rare FBS transfer, Taylor joins the team with a better rรฉsumรฉ than most.
Projected role: Taylor probably wonโt start in his first taste of Big 12 action, but heโs a good bet for solid playing time, especially with head coach Rich Rodriguez making a point of not using redshirt years in the era of the transfer portal.ย
Accolades, highlights: Two-time all-region awardee in north Georgia.
