With already one five-star locked in, Ross Hodge is in hot pursuit of another one to add to the future of the WVU basketball program. West Virginia is in the mix, and even considered the favorite by some, for 2027 center/power forward Paul Osoruyi.

The Mountaineers are battling the likes of Arkansas, Duke, Kentucky, Houston and Oregon for the Arizona prospect out of Bella Vista Prep.

Osuruyi, a 6-foot-10 star from Scarborough, Canada, is ranked as a consensus five-star, the No. 1 player in Arizona and among the top centers in the entire country by every major recruiting service.

Already having his high school teammate Miles Sadler committed provides a unique advantage for WVU.

“Itโ€™d be really fun to play with Miles,” Osoruyi told Heartland Sports. “Weโ€™ve been playing together since he was a freshman, and I was in eighth grade. We have just built a great relationship on and off the court. I know his game, and he knows mine. I know when he wants to get a bucket, and he knows when I want a bucket. Heโ€™s a true leader, a true point guard.”

And even though there’s still a long way to go in the recruitment process, it’s a positive sign that a highly coveted recruit is considering West Virginia over offers from a blue blood school and several other Power Fours with massive NIL bank accounts.
