All 105 is a West Virginia Sports Now series profiling each member of the 2026 WVU Football Roster.

A redshirt senior with playing experience at both Florida and Charlotte, Max Brown transferred to the Mountaineers in January of 2025 to provide another arm in their quarterback battle. Still around for a second year, Brown is once again looking like the third guy on the depth chart, but has also shown significance progress in practices.ย

If he impresses Rich Rodriguez, it’s possible the WVU staff will find a way to utilize Brown more than what he experienced in 2025 – he only appeared in two games late in the season despite an injury plagued quarterback room.

Last year:ย Brown played against Utah and Texas Tech.

Stats: He completed 1-of-7 passes for seven yards and ran for 23 yards on four scrambles.ย

Camp outlook: Behind both Scotty Fox and Michael Hawkins in the competition for the starting job, Brown impressed in the scrimmage part of the Gold-Blue Festival to cap off the spring practice period.

Projected role: Brown is expected to be the QB3, but could push for coming in for certain packages if he can duplicate his spring during fall camp.

Accolades, highlights:ย Brown served as a two-sport athlete with Florida, playing for their baseball team as an outfielder. While he never appeared in a game on the diamond for the Gators, high school scouts clocked him with a strong arm capable of throwing a baseball at 85 miles per hour.
