With WVU baseball fans focused on the upcoming MLB Draft, head coach Steve Sabins and his staff are busy making the current Mountaineers better.

On Friday, a report from EerSports.com, the 247 Sports affiliated site that covers WVU sports, indicates West Virginia has gained a commitment from another transfer.

Tyler Hutson, a transfer pitcher from University of Southern Indiana pitcher, is committing to take his talents to the Big 12. The senior has appeared in 61 games to this point and has thrown 132.2 innings over three seasons with a 4.95 ERA. Opponents held to only a .236 batting average ย against him during the 2023 season.

Hutson becomes WVU’s first commitment since June 21 when they added JT Huether, a player with a primary position of infield and also experience as a pitcher.

For another notable transfer, Sabins also secured USC Upstate transfer outfielder Jace Rinehar in late June as well.
