While the Mountaineers are busy preparing for a road trip to Oklahoma State, a top recruit announced he will be visiting when WVU returns home. On Tuesday, 2026 commit Brodie McWhorter revealed his plans to attend West Virginia’s next home game.

“Mountaineer nation, I’m excited to be back home next weekend for the Iowa State game! GO MOUNTAINEERS,” said McWhorter on X (formerly Twitter). McWhorter was also in attendance for the season opener against Penn State.

McWhorter, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound quarterback out of Cass High School in Kingston, Ga., announced his commitment to West Virginia on June 24.

“All glory to God! There is nothing else like Morgantown and who wouldn’t want to play for coach Brown? More than grateful for the WVU staff. Country roads, take more home! Who’s next.” McWhorter wrote on social media at the time of his commitment.

Rivals labels McWhorter as a four-star while 247 Sports and On3 Sports only award him three stars. McWhorter is ranked within the top 40 Georgia players and top 25 quarterbacks nationally in his class.

To put McWhorter’s recruitment in context, he picked WVU over offers from Auburn, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Michigan State, North Carolina and Ohio State among others. And in addition to those offers, Alabama, Clemson, Louisville, LSU, South Carolina and Tennessee have also expressed interest.
