A big play almost turned into one for the blooper reel by a former Mountaineer on Monday Night Football.

Green Bay Packers cornerback Rasul Douglas tried to extend his return after picking off Rams quarterback Baker Mayfield, but got spun around the wrong way. He then tried to lateral the ball to a teammate, giving everyone watching flashes of the day before when a disastrous lateral attempt led to a fumble and the Patriots losing to the Raiders.

Douglas’ teammates were able to get the ball and retain possession to avoid a repeat situation for the Packers. Green Bay ended up beating the Rams 24-12, keeping their slim postseason hopes alive.

After a stellar college career that included being a first team All-Big 12 in 2016 thanks to recording eight interceptions, Douglas was drafted in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Eagles. Douglas spent two seasons at West Virginia after transferring from a community college. He’s in his second season with Green Bay after bouncing around the NFL since departing Philadelphia following the 2019 season. Douglas earned a Super Bowl ring in Super Bowl LII.
