West Virginia DL Transfer Mike Lockhart Commits to SMU

WVU Football Defensive Lineman Mike Lockhart

Former Mountaineer defensive lineman Mike Lockhart is headed to SMU, committing to the Mustangs on Saturday afternoon.

Lockhart is one WVU’s biggest transfer losses of this winter window. He surprised fans by announcing his departure a week ago.

Lockhart doubled his production in 2023 from 2022, totaling 21 tackles, nine tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks.

Before arriving in Morgantown, Lockhart spent three years at Georgia Tech. He’s going to have instant eligibility as a grad transfer at his next school.

It was widely expected that West Virginia was planning to rely on Lockhart even more in 2024, but those plans will now obviously have to change.
