A week of inaction did not hurt the West Virginia men’s basketball much in the national rankings, as the Mountaineers fell just one spot in this week’s AP Top 25 poll to No. 14.

COVID-19 protocols wiped out both of the team’s games last week, against Baylor and TCU, and its first game this week against Oklahoma State. Both the Baylor and TCU games have been rescheduled, WVU announced Monday morning. The Mountaineers’ next scheduled game is on the road against the Kansas State Wildcats on Jan. 23.

WVU was jumped in this week’s standings by Big 12 rival, No. 12 Texas Tech. The Red Raiders upset then-No. 4 Texas on Wednesday last week and had a single-digit loss to No. 2 Baylor on Saturday.

Other Big 12 teams in this week’s rankings include, No. 2 Baylor, No. 5 Texas, No. 9 Kansas and No. 12 Texas Tech, with Oklahoma State also receiving votes.
