WVU Basketball Hosted Big 12 Transfer Known for Defensive Prowess

Ross Hodge and his WVU basketball staff are back out on their grind to recruit transfer talent. In fact, West Virginia brought in a Big 12 transfer in for a visit this week.
Oklahoma State transfer point guard Arturo Dean was in Morgantown for an official visit on Wednesday. Dean even posted about his trip on Instagram. Dean entered the transfer portal in April, but has yet to find his next team.
Known as one of the league’s best defenders, Dean would seemingly fit nicely in Hodge’s system and would also be their first transfer with existing Power Four experience.
A 5-foot-11, 170-pound junior, Dean averaged 7.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game with Oklahoma State during the 2024 season. He shot 39.6% from the field, but also led the conference in steals with 84. Dean has 269 steals so far in his college career.
Prior to jumping to the Big 12, Dean averaged 13.4 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game in 2023 with FIU. Dean has one year remaining of eligibility.
