Virginia Tech decommit AJ Swinton has received an offer from West Virginia on Monday. Swinton is a 4-star forward from the 2024 high school class.

“I am blessed and honored to receive an offer from West Virginia University,” Swinton wrote.

Swinton (6-foot-6) reopened his recruitment on April 18 after decommitting from Virginia Tech. Swinton has received offers from George Mason, Georgetown, Howard, Maryland, Virginia Tech and West Virginia. Swinton is still considering the Hokies.

Swinton, who played at Oak Hill Academy last season, plans to finish off his high school career at Bishop O’Connell. The Virginia Tech decommit was once planned to play at Sierra Canyon in California during his senior year.

Swinton is a native of Hyattsville, Md., which is WVU assistant DerMarr Johnson’s regional area. Johnson has extended offers to numerous Maryland kids his first four months on the new job.

West Virginia has offered 2024 prospects Derrion Reid (F) and Sharron Young (G) in the last week. Reid is a top-75 prospect in his class from Georgia while Young is a Morgantown native currently playing at MHS.
