WVU Football and Baseball recruit Madrid Tucker

A two-sport athlete from Florida could be headed north to West Virginia. Madrid Tucker has narrowed down his list of schools to a final two that pits WVU up against North Carolina.

Listed at 5-foot-11 and 160 pounds, Tucker excels at both football and baseball as a 2025 prospect for Fort Meyers High School. Tucker mainly plays both defensive back and wide receiver on the gridiron.

In 2024, Tucker caught 36 passes for 686 yards and scored eight touchdowns. He also rushed for 383 yards and added five more scores on 42 touches on the ground.

On defense, Tucker had two interceptions and forced two fumbles while deflecting six passes. He even accumulated 298 yards as a returner on special teams.

Tucker, who is a short-stop in baseball, wants to play both sports in college. He even explained to the News Press in Fort Meyers that the coaches for each program with the Mountaineers and Tar Heels being open to the idea is what makes his final two schools stand out from the rest.

โ€œBoth West Virginia and UNC stood out because they made everything seamless,” Tucker told The News-Press. “The Coaches were aligned, fully on board, and made me feel at home from the start. Their commitment in both football and baseball was clear, and having the opportunity to compete at a high level in both sports was a major factor. The baseball coaches at both schools also felt like a great fit, reinforcing that these were the right places to grow as a dual-sport athlete,โ€ said Tucker.

West Virginia offered Tucker a football scholarship recently in early January. In fact, WVU sent Tucker their offer a day after North Carolina.

Tucker has offers from schools all across the country, with notable Power Four programs like Navy, Pitt, UCF and USF not making the cut.

Heโ€™s the son of former MLB 12-year veteran Michael Tucker.
