Over the last couple of days, West Virginia’s coaching staff has been in contact with Kentucky’s Dontaie Allen and Bryce Hopkins. Allen and Hopkins both have recently entered the transfer portal and are looking for a new school to play at.

WVU head coach Bob Huggins reportedly had dinner with Allen (6-foot-6, 198 pounds) in Lexington on Thursday night. West Virginia was close to landing Allen during his high school recruitment before Kentucky came in a few years back.

This past season, Allen averaged 2.2 points and 1.2 rebounds in limited playing time. The Kentucky native shot 40 percent from three in his freshman campaign at UK. Allen has three years of eligibility remaining.

Hopkins (6-foot-6, 220 pounds) was in contact with West Virginia over the weekend. The freshman forward averaged 2.1 points and 1.4 rebounds in 28 games for the Wildcats this past year. Hopkins was rated a top-40 prospect in the Class of 2021, according to 247 Sports. Hopkins has three years of eligibility left as well.
