WVU Defensive Lineman Quay Mays Puts Name in Transfer Portal
The West Virginia University football team appears to be losing another defensive lineman, with reports out that Quay Mays has put his name into the transfer portal. Rivals was the first to report the news.
Mays joined the Mountaineers prior to the 2020 season as a junior college transfer, but played sparingly and recorded just four tackles.
2020 3-star JUCO signee DL Quay Mays has entered the transfer portal after totaling 4 tackles in his first season at #WVU @rivalsmike @RivalsWoody @rivalskeenan @WVSportsDotCom https://t.co/EJXxAGIAum

Prior to WVU, Mays played at Northwest Mississippi Community College for two season, where he totaled 44 tackles, 6.5 tackles for a loss, one fumble recovery, one blocked kick and three sacks.
A player entering his name into the transfer portal does not mean that player has to leave their school. That player can withdraw their name at any time, but schools are not obligated to keep that player on scholarship once their name is entered into the transfer portal.
