As the summer winds down, the WVU football program’s 2024 recruiting work is finished, but that’s not stopping the Mountaineers from adding to the class. Late Thursday night, Nate Gabriel, a defensive line prospect out of Auburndale, Florida, announced his commitment.

Listed at 6-foot-4 and 285 pounds, Gabriel ended up picking West Virginia over offers from several other major programs, including East Carolina, Kansas State, Illinois, South Florida and UCF.

Gabriel took his official visit to Morgantown from June 2-4, and  that’s when WVU joined four other schools as his final five. WVU offered Gabriel on August 1.

He’s ranked as a top 200 Florida product and a three-star by both 247 Sports and On3.com.

West Virginia defensive line coach Andrew Jackson and defensive coordinator Jordan Lesley built a strong bond with Gabriel that now led to his desire to be a Mountaineer.
