In an effort to secure a recruiting win over a couple regional rivals, the WVU football staff will welcome an Ohio offensive lineman to Morgantown for an official visit.

The 6-foot-4 and 290-pound Mason Wilhelm announced his upcoming trip on social media, revealing he will be in town for a full weekend from June 6-8.

Wilhelm, who attends St. Edward High School in Westlake, Ohio, carries a three-star rating from multiple major recruiting services. He’s ranked as the No. 63 Ohio player in his class and the No. 101 interior offensive lineman in the country.

Wilhelm has almost 30 total offers, but WVU is mostly battling Pitt and Maryland as far as other Power Fours heavily pursing him. After leaving West Virginia, he has an official visit scheduled for the end of June with Maryland.

North Carolina is also involved while Baylor, Syracuse, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest stand out as some of his other top offers. The Mountaineers joined the mix with an offer on March 26 a few weeks after his time on campus.

Wilhelm also has opportunities with Akron, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Colorado State, Eastern Kentucky, JMU, Kent State, Marshall, Miami (OH), Ohio, Toledo, Tulane, UMass, UNLV and Western Kentucky if he decides to turn down a Power Four school in hopes of more immediate playing time.
