WVU Football Falls Shy of Claiming Commitment of 2026 Florida ATH

The WVU football staff came close to landing Florida athlete LaRon Dues, but fell shy of winning his commitment.
The 5-foot-10, 180-pound Dues announced his commitment to Indiana on Tuesday after spending the weekend in Bloomington. Dues’ made his official visit to WVU the prior weekend, but he picked the Hoosiers over West Virginia, George Tech, Oregon and USF.
Labeled an “athlete” in recruiting circles, Dues will most likely be a cornerback as a Mountaineer. A product of Cardinal Mooney High School in Sarasota, Fla., Dues has been awarded three stars from multiple major recruiting services.
After being pursued by Neal Brown’s staff for two years, Dues was then offered by Rich Rodriguez’s group on Jan. 17. He’s taken several trips to West Virginia over the past two years.
In addition to his final five schools, Dues was also offered by Appalachian State, Arizona, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Central Michigan, JMU, Kentucky, Liberty, Marshall, Memphis, Toledo, Wake Forest and several others.
