A day after the WVU football program lost its first transfer player this cycle, edge rusher Aric Burton announces he is also leaving West Virginia.

Burton (6-foot-5 and 212 pounds) posted a message on social media, expressing his gratitude to the WVU program and Mountaineer Nation fan base but that he decided to enter the Transfer Portal with four remaining years of eligibility.

“I will be forever thankful for the brotherhood and bond me and my teammates have created, one and off the field,” Burton said in his letter.

Burton, a three-star product out of high school in Clearwater, Florida, received a redshirt for the 2022 season, only seeing action against FCS opponent Towson. Much like defensive back Jaylon Shelton, the loss of Burton just impacts the depth of the WVU defense.
